Thank you, Paris

Dear Liza Weil,

You would make anything watchable, but thanks for sticking around the sinking ship that is the seventh season of Gilmore Girls. I hope you're getting paid more than the townies. If the actor that plays Kirk is getting paid more than you, there's no justice in the world.

Week in Review

It's been a pretty crappy week for me, I won't lie. While Blood Ray and Mink were rubbing elbows with Jennifer Hudson at the Chicago premiere of Dreamgirls (i'm jealous!), Lukas and I were freezing in our apartment while our furnace was on the fritz. Plus, I spent, like, 300 dollars on getting the car window fixed. Work totally sucked. And we were locked out of the car on Thursday.

But we survived not just this week, but our first year together. Happy anniversary, Sweetpea. There's no one else I'd rather freeze to death with.

I think I quickly glossed over the Regina Spektor show the other night. Words can't describe how adorable and talented this woman is.

And quirky. Let's not forget quirky. When someone yelled out, "What's your favorite candy?" she replied, "Olives." And then something about being an eastern-European Jew.

Last weekend, we attended a viewing party for Genoa's appearance on CSI:NY. I didn't watch the whole thing, but here's how it turned out:

Genoa on CSI:NY

The next night, we saw Shut Up and Sing, the documentary about the Dixie Chicks and the fallout after Natalie's comments. It was amazing. Some guy with Tourette's kept yelling stuff through the entire thing. The only time it was funny was after a former DC fan said, "Dixie Chicks albums are garbage," and he yelled, "So are you, Bitch!"

And what is it about outspoken female performers that make me want to copy them (at least when it comes to black fashion accessories?)

I have dreams of orca whales and owls but i wake up in fear

I woke up this morning with a plan. I had the day off, so I figured I'd get a few chores out of the way -- laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.

I wanted to post some pictures and some mp3s to share with my readers.

However, the main event was to be the Regina Spektor concert at the Creepy Crawl, a venue I've never had the opportunity to visit.

I'll likely never attend a show there again, as Lukas's car was broken into. Someone shattered a window and removed a lock before noticing the bright red CLUB on the steering wheel.

It's late and I don't really feel like posting pics, but I already sent some mp3s to yousendit.com, and they expire in 7 days, so here they are.

Regina Spektor - "Little Boxes"
She has some annoying fans, including the lady who pantomimed roughly 80 percent of the lyrics at tonight's show. I'm pretty sure it wasn't sign language. And the woman who yelled, "I love this song!" at the beginning of EVERY song. It's like, "Yeah, we can all just assume that you love every song so kindly shut the fuck up."

Me - "Kayalicious"
To celebrate the video's 500th viewing (only 150 were by me, I swear), here's the mp3. It's for anyone who's ever thought, "I wish there were another version of Fergalicious, but with different lyrics about a boxer and sung/rapped by a tone-deaf, no-talent Mexican."

Gwen Stefani - "Wind It Up"
Yodel, sound of music, blah blah blah i'm going to bed.

On K-Fed:

Ugh. I just heard this on CNN, of all places:

"Now they're calling him FedEx, and I think Britney wants him shipped out priority overnight, if you know what I mean."

Just horrible.

Before there was Mario Party....

Many thanks to Alan, who gave me a disc with 700 old Nintendo games on it. I've been playing them all weekend. Some are so old and random, but they bring back such memories of when I was a kid. My sister and I played NES games
all the time. My mom would call from the video store and ask which ones she should rent for the weekend. That was, like, so cool of her.

Some games allowed us to be angels.

Some showed us what it would be like to throw cream pies at snooty old bitches.

One showed us what it would be like to...uh...play pinball.

And then there was Vegas Dream. I'm not sure how appropriate this game was for kids.
